The Beginners Guide to Prostate Stimulation

For anyone, prostate stimulation for the first time can be a nervous ordeal and the thought can put most people off, but prostate stimulation is nothing to be scared of and can be a very satisfying experience leading to some great orgasms and sexual play whether alone or with a partner.

Why do people like P-spot stimulation?

Like any sexual activity, P-spot stimulation won’t be for everyone. That being said, those that do enjoy it can experience intense orgasms and explore a new realm of stimulation outside of external shaft stimulation.

Sadly, there is still some stigma held around P-spot stimulation which might be holding some people back from experiencing it. Luckily in recent years, more and more people are trying P-spot stimulation, and there are now several ways to stimulate it with dildos, massagers, and anal toys. So there are plenty of ways to partake in prostate play, no matter your experience level or preferences, but more on that later.

What is the prostate?

Firstly what exactly is the prostate and where do I even find it?

As stated in our other P-spot article: Why you should try Prostate Stimulation;

‘The prostate, otherwise known as the (P-Spot) is a small muscular gland that produces the seminal fluid found in the ejaculate. It helps to propel semen from the penis. It’s also surrounded by lots of nerve endings that feel amazing when stimulated.’

The prostate is hidden about two inches inside the rectum, between the rectum and the penis and is often accessed via the anus. Using lots of lubricant, and even an anal relaxant is important to the comfort of P-spot stimulation. Although some people enjoy the stretch of entering the anus, tears and discomfort can occur if you’re not properly lubricated.

How to stimulate it:

Step 1 – Preparation

Firstly, when using any form of anal toy it is ideal to begin by cleaning the rectum is a good idea to prevent any accidents. This can be done very easily with an anal douche or enema kit.

It goes without saying but a clean and empty rectum is a happy rectum when playing with anal toys.

Plus, taking a nice soak in a warm bath will not only ensure you’re clean but it will also help you relax your first-time nerves and can be a great opportunity to warm up with a finger or small toy.

Step 2 – Lubricating your toy and anus

For easier insertion, we recommend you use a good water-based lube, not only is this better for prolonging the quality of your toy, but it’s also a lot easier to clean off afterwards. We do sell a water-based lubricant that is specially designed for anal play, with an added relaxant agent in the lube itself using a slightly thicker lube is also a good idea as this will stay on the toy for longer.

If this is your first time using an anal toy, we’d recommend you use the anal lube with the relaxant as this will help ease the experience.

Before working the lubricant into the toy, it is a good idea to apply a bit of lubricant onto the outside of the anus and in the rectum with a finger. This will help loosen you up a bit and make it easier to insert the toy.

Step 3 – Positioning for comfort

If this is your first time then a good way to position yourself is to lay on your back with your head slightly elevated on a pillow or your side with your knees up to your chest, as this will give you better access to securely explore the anus. The most important thing you can do is be as comfortable as possible to prevent any form of tension and long deep breathing is key to easing tension.

When it comes to anal play, it’s best to always expect some level of mess, whether that be thick anal lube or some bodily fluids. Placing down a towel and preparing your anus beforehand (as mentioned by having a bath or using a douche) can help prevent any accidents.

Step 4 – Insertion and P-spot massaging

You don’t have to rush, remember it’s a new, sensual experience so take it slow and communicate any worries with your partner (if they are with you). With whatever toy you use for the first time, ensure you have a firm and comfortable grip before inserting.

For the insertion, simply pull your legs and feet towards your chest so your knees are bent and if you’re on your back, keep your legs shoulder-width apart, this will make it easier to insert the toy into the rectum.

Start slowly pushing the end of the toy into the rectum. Easing into this, you will feel a slight bit of tension as the toy widens out. This is perfectly normal. If you find that the tension is becoming a little bit uncomfortable then slowly remove the toy and apply a little bit more lubricant. You can always use a finger as well before inserting the toy to work up to it. The key is to go slowly and at your own pace, keep working up to what you can handle and remain relaxed and comfortable.

Once you’re comfortable, experiment with massaging wherever feels good. Usually, arching the toy slightly towards your belly button can help you reach your P-spot.

Remember, once you’re done, always clean your messager with a toy cleaner to ensure it’s sanitary for its next use, and never use the same toy for both vaginal and anal stimulation as it can spread harmful bacteria.
