Pegging Techniques and Toys

woman wearing strap onWhat Is Pegging

For those of you that haven’t heard about this gender flipping phenomena. Pegging refers to the sex act of a partner with a vagina wearing a strap on or dildo to penetrate their partner. Whilst the term pegging is generally used to describe strap on sex between heterosexual couples, gay and lesbian couples can get in on the pegging fun too. Heck, strap on’s have been worshiped in the LGBT community for years (Reference 1).

Pegging is not as scary as it sounds (we promise), and if done correctly can lead to almighty, earth-moving orgasms. Carry on reading to get the down-low on all things pegging and make sure you are pegging properly.

Pegging Meaning

So what’s so great about pegging anyway and why is the sex world going crazy over it?

Pegging takes traditional gender roles and flips them on their heads. Modern women are standing up and taking charge of the power that is rightfully theirs in the workplace, home and now in the bedroom too. Many women report that being the penetrating partner shifts the power dynamic, and allows them to take hold of the reins and lead the ride (Reference 1). When the partner with a vagina is penetrating, she controls when, how fast and how deep to thrust (only if their partner is consenting); which feels so sexy. It also allows the partner being pegged to experience the vulnerability of being dominated and penetrated by someone else; which can be a massive turn on (Reference 1).

Not only does pegging challenge hetronormative relationships it forces you both to communicate…a lot!. Bringing up pegging with a partner can be scary, you are delving into unknown territory. However, taking that leap of faith and putting yourself (and your fetishes) on show for your partner to see, will benefit your relationship in the long run.  And all this open, honest and frank conversation is only going to make you feel closer and more comfortable with each other both inside and outside the sheets.

Why Pegging Is SO Pleasurable

Pegging is your key to pleasuring the P.spot. For those of you that aren’t yet acquainted with this holy area on the man’s body. The P.spot is the male equivalent to the female G.spot and is activated by stimulating the prostate gland. The prostate is easily accessible via the anus; so, anal penetration such as pegging can stimulate the P.spot and lead to leg buckling orgasms.

Pleasure isn’t just for the partner being penetrated. If worn correctly all that grinding up and down and around on the strap-on harness will feel amazing, especially if the wearer has a clitoris.

Pegging With A Dildo and Other Tools

Unless you are already an expert anal player, it is never a good idea to jump straight into pegging with a strap-on. Unlike the muscles in the vagina, the sphincter muscles found in the anus do not naturally relax or lubricate, so it is important to start small and work your way up to larger anal toys. Pegging is meant to be pleasurable, so, it’s a good idea to get to know your backside before you begin. If you are nervous about being penetrated, stock up on some small butt plugs and prostate massagers and have a solo session exploring yourself. Not only will being alone help you to relax into anal play, but you will also feel prepared to start your anal adventure next time you are with a partner.

Pegging can be done using just a dildo. The penetrating partner simply holds a dildo in their hand and uses it to penetrate their partners bottom. This method is a good way to start when first trying pegging as it helps you both ease into the experience. The person being pegged can get a feel for what thrusts feel nice. And the person doing the pegging can get an idea of the pace and depth of penetration their partner likes (for now anyway).

Pegging With A Strap-On

When both of you are comfortable with anal penetration its time to move on to the big guns – pegging with a strap-on. Yeah, we are talking about full-on female to male strap on sex.

Let’s get things straight – using a penis takes practice. Don’t expect to be an expert overnight; you are most likely going to feel silly and a little awkward the first time you start thrusting about with this great big dong coming out of your vagina (Reference 2). So, get used to wearing the strap on before you try pegging. The first time you try a strap-on on you are probably going to want to get a little silly with it, we think it’s all part of the fun – you can even pretend to use it as a lightsaber if that’s your thing.

Strap-ons come in a range of different styles, for your first time you are best starting out with a basic easy to use strap-on. The most simplistic strap-ons have an Oh ring harness that wraps around the waist and underneath your crotch, and a dildo with a flared base that fits inside the Oh ring (Reference 3). This type of harness is perfect for beginners as it allows you to change the size and style of dildo you are using; so, it’s got you covered when you are ready to size up. When you get more confident using a strap-on, you can try using a vibrating strap-on, these toys send vibrations pulsating through both partners body. Or if you think your vaginal muscles are up to the match, try a strapless strap-on with a vibrating end that goes inside the vagina for out of this world sensations.

How To Do Pegging

Preparation Is Essential

Don’t be a pegging douche. Always make sure you are clean, prepared and well er… empty for the big event. Using a douche or an enema about half an hour before will help prevent any unwanted bodily fluids leaking out. Also, make sure you are in a comfortable space, where you can both feel relaxed. We recommend a bed or cosy sofa, perhaps trying pegging out bent over the oven isn’t the best idea for your first time.

Where to Begin

The trick to pegging is to start slow. Having someone thrust into you before you are prepared is never pleasurable and in fact a little traumatic. To avoid this uneasy event, make sure you engage in lots of foreplay first. Start your sexy time off as you would do normally. Lots of kissing, groping and licking… Try giving each other an oily massage to help relax the body (water-based oils only if you are using silicone sex toys). Now you can move on to the butt. Follow the same rules. Start slow. First, penetrate with a lubed up finger and move up to bigger things from there, until the partner being penetrated feels they are ready to be pegged using a strap-on.

Tools To Use When Pegging

There are some helpful tools you need to bring along that will make your pegging experience a lot easier and more pleasurable. When it comes to pegging, lube is your best friend. As the sphincter muscles in the butt don’t naturally lubricate, it is essential that you use a water-based lubricant to avoid any unwanted friction or damage to the tissue. Try using our anal lubricant with a special relaxant in. It is always useful to have some small butt plugs to hand whilst warming up for the big finale. Bum fun can get messy, so always clean up afterwards with our specially formulated toy cleaner. This will prevent any build of bacteria on your sex toys; keeping them hygienic and in better condition.

Is Pegging Gay?

Enjoying anal penetration does not make someone gay. Every guy has a prostate gland which releases insane amounts of pleasure when stimulated. Therefore, it is perfectly natural for everyone to want this area pleasured during sex, no matter what their sexual preferences are. The anus is also one of the most sensitive areas found in the body, filled with hundreds of delightful nerve endings. So, who wouldn’t want this area played with? How you enjoy being penetrated and getting off has nothing to do with your sexual orientation. Your sexual orientation is down to what gender person you want doing the penetration (Reference 2).

First Time Pegging Do’s and Dont’s

  • Don’t forget to douche. Failing to prepare could end up with well… a muddy coloured mess and that is definitely not sexy.
  • Don’t just whip out a strap on with no warning next time you are having sex and expect your partner to be down with pegging. You need to communicate with your partner first. Discuss whether you are both open to the idea of pegging and ease each other in gently. Unsure of how to bring pegging up? Try rubbing a cheeky finger around the rim of their anus. If they like it, go from there. Or get your partner to watch your masturbate your anus so they can see how much it turns you on. This will show them how exciting pegging could be.
  • Do use lots of lube. When it comes to pegging lube is essential. Unlike the vagina, the anus does not self lubricate. So, you are going to need lube and lots of it (probably best to buy in bulk).
  • Do trim those nails. If you have long nails that you don’t want to lose, wear a pair of latex gloves. Put some cotton wool over the tip of the nail to prevent the gloves from tearing. Gloves are also great to use because they make clean up super easy.
  • Do warm-up before the main event. Engaging in lots of foreplay before pegging will help loosen the muscles in his anus, and help you both relax into it.
  • Don’t try pegging before experimenting with a small butt plug. If you are a guy who has never put anything up his derriere before, going straight on to pegging may be to fast; the result could be painful. Have an evening of anal exploration, and try using small butt plugs first. This way you get a feel for anal play and will be more prepared for pegging.
  • Do become acquainted with his anatomy. Knowing with feels nice for him and where will really help with thrusting techniques. Try gently pleasuring him with a lubed up finger (making sure to clip those nails). Get him to tell you what type of pressure and penetration feels the best (Reference 4).
  • Do start with a small slim dildo. Going in with something too big could not only be painful but lead to damage or tearing of the anal tissue.
  • Do start slow. Pegging is not a race; if it were the tortoise would definitely win this one.
  • Do let him set the pace. As most ladies know, someone thrusting too hard is not always pleasurable. So, first let him move on to the dildo and begin with slow and shallow thrusts. Always listen to what he is saying and how his body is reacting.
  • Do expect to encounter some challenges. Pegging may be fun but it is also very fiddly. Your first time is probably going to be a little messy and awkward (probably a lot like your actual first time).

Pegging Sex Positions To Try For Beginners

Bend Over Boyfriend – This back to basics position is the traditional ‘doggy’ style position with a role reversal twist. The person being penetrated gets on their hands on knees, flaunting their booty in the air (Reference 5). The partner wearing the strap-on brings the dildo towards their partners bottom, and when both partners are ready slowly starts to thrust the dildo into the desired hole. The exciting thing about this position is both partners get to experience what it feels like to be on the other end of penetration during doggy-style. It is a good position for first-timers, as it is a position most people are well practiced with and provides easy, comfortable access.

Reverse CowGirl – The partner wearing the strap-on lies on their back with their legs either together or slightly parted. The partner being penetrated straddles the other partner on their hands and knees, facing away from them (Reference 5). This position is perfect for beginners, as it allows the partner being penetrated to control the depth and pace of each thrust. Have the partner who is lying down and wearing the strap-on masturbate themselves with a vibrator for added pleasure and excitement.

Sit On Me Please – This position is great if you want to involve foreplay. The partner wearing a strap on sits on the edge of the bed. Using lots of lube they start to masturbate themselves and the hard dildo (Reference 5). Have the partner being penetrated watch this sexy show, and when ready they can scootch their bottom over and sit on the strap on. Another perfect position for couples new to pegging, as the partner being penetrated, can control the pace of the thrusts.

The Best Sex Toys For Pegging

Butt Plugs

As mentioned above, if you are trying pegging for the first time you need to warm your booty up first. This is where butt plugs are your best friend. Butt plugs come in a range of sizes, from teeny weeny anal toys to rocket-sized butt stretching plugs. When it comes to anal toys, you should always start small, and gradually move on to bigger plugs. Having a variety of different-sized plugs is perfect for anal stretching; which can help you prepare your bottom for pegging. We recommend a beginner’s butt plug set or an anal exploration kit. These kits are perfect for first-timers, as they provide you with an assortment of anal toys; so you can really test the backdoor waters.

Strap-Ons

Strap-on-dildo-double-sex.

While you don’t necessarily need to use a strap-on for pegging, they do help! Many couples find they start off using smaller ‘less intimidating’ toys and work their way up. One thing we can’t stress enough is – strap-ons are not scary! Strap-ons are the ultimate pegging tool, coming in all different shapes and sizes.

For beginners, we recommend purchasing an Oh ring harness strap-on. This allows you to change the size of the dildo as your progress along your pegging adventure. For those more adventurous you can try a strapless strap-on or a vibrating strap-on. Strapless strap-ons are amazing because they internally stimulate the wearer as well as the partner being penetrated – hello synchronized orgasms.

Prostate Stimulators

If you aren’t already convinced by the sound of volcano-erupting orgasms you need to try them for yourself. Using a prostate massager is an easy way to learn what prostate pleasure feels like before you try pegging. Stimulating the p.spot is a new sensation; so, spending some one on one time with your p.spot and a prostate massager will help you learn more about your body and what stimulation you enjoy. Have your partner use a small prostate massager while they go down on you, for an unreal blow job experience.

Dildos

Using a dildo for anal penetration is a great stepping stone on the way to strap-on pegging. You can use a dildo to masturbate with by yourself in preparation for the duo event. Or have your partner thrust in and out of you with a dildo they are holding in their hand. That way, your partner gets a feel for how your body responds to the thrusts, and you experience what it is like to be penetrated by someone else. Like most other sex toys, dildos come in a wide range of styles and sizes. Always, always start with a small dildo for anal penetration. Beginning with a dong that is to big can cause damage to the anal tissue. The style of the dildo is down to your personal preference. If a realistic dildo isn’t your thing, there are other non-life like sex toys available.

Love Eggs

Pegging isn’t just about the partner being penetrated. The partner wearing the strap-on needs to get off to; and if they have a vagina, using a vibrator will ensure they do. There are two types of small vibrators; toys for internal pleasure and toys for external stimulation. Slip a bullet or clit stimulator on the inside of the strap-on, to experience out of this world sensations while pegging. Wearing a small vibrator internally whilst pegging can be a real turn on, as it allows both partners to be penetrated at the same time. For an even kinkier experience, slip a remote control love egg inside you while you thrust in and out of your partner. Only you give them the controls, so not only are you controlling them, they are controlling you.

This is thanks to all the feel-good hormones released during sex and is a time we feel most intimate.
