The UK’s First Sex Shop Drive-Thru Is Here. And It’s at a Town Near You.

You’re sat in the drive-thru queue on a Friday night. Again. Same car. Same order. Same slightly sad feeling when you realise this is the most exciting part of your week.

What if it didn’t have to be?

We’ve said it for years: buying a vibrator shouldn’t be harder than buying a burger. So we’ve gone and done something no one in the UK has ever done before.

We’ve built a sex shop drive-thru.

The UK’s First. Seriously.

Starting this April, Pulse & Cocktails is launching the UK’s first ever sex shop drive-thru at selected stores across the country. It’s never been done. No one’s even come close. And honestly, we’re a bit surprised we got here first.

Pull up. Place your order. Collect your discreet brown bag at the window. Drive off with a smile and something significantly more exciting than a box of chicken.

No parking. No browsing the aisles while pretending to look at candles. No accidentally making eye contact with your neighbour near the lubricant shelf. Just quick, shame-free shopping from the comfort of your car.

Friday takeaway night just got a serious upgrade.

Two Years in the Making

This isn’t something we threw together over a lunch break. The drive-thru concept has been in development for nearly two years, after internal research showed that 68% of first-time customers said they’d feel more comfortable buying from their car than walking into a store. A further 74% said they’d use a drive-thru service at least once a month if one existed.

The numbers made it obvious. The only question was who’d be brave enough to do it first.

“We’ve spent 15 years trying to make buying a vibrator as normal as buying a coffee. A drive-thru felt like the natural next step. Some people thought we were joking when we first pitched it. We weren’t. We’ve built the infrastructure, trained the teams, and installed the menu boards. This is happening.”

How It Works

Exactly like any other drive-thru. That’s the whole point.

We’ve installed a proper menu board at the front of each pilot store, laid out like your favourite fast-food spot. Classics, sides, desserts, combo deals. Except instead of a Big Mac, you’re picking up a vibrator. And instead of a milkshake, it’s massage oil. You get the idea.

There’s even a meal deal. We’re calling it The Quickie Combo. We’re not sorry.

Pull up to the board, place your order at the speaker, drive round to the window, tap your card, and you’re done. The whole thing takes less time than waiting for a flat white. In early testing, average transaction time came in at under two minutes and forty seconds. That’s faster than most coffee shops.

Everything comes in a plain bag. No branding on the outside. The only person who knows what’s in there is you, and maybe whoever you’re sharing your Friday night with.

Order Online, Collect at the Window

Can’t decide while you’re sat in the queue? We get it. Some orders need a bit more thought than “large fries, please.”

That’s why we’re launching click and collect alongside the drive-thru. Browse the full menu on your phone, place your order online, and just swing by the window to pick it up. No waiting. No browsing under pressure. Your order’s bagged and ready before you even pull in.

Think of it as the grown-up version of ordering ahead on the app. Same convenience, very different menu.

Early beta testing showed click and collect orders made up 41% of all drive-thru transactions. People want the speed, but they also want time to choose properly. This gives them both.

Why This Matters

This isn’t just a gimmick. There’s a real problem here that nobody’s solved.

A lot of our customers tell us the hardest part of shopping for sex toys is walking through the door. Not because our stores aren’t welcoming (they are), but because society’s still catching up with the idea that wanting a vibrator is as normal as wanting a new pair of trainers.

In a recent survey of over 2,000 UK adults, 57% said they’d be more likely to buy a sex toy if they didn’t have to interact with anyone face-to-face. One in three said they’d specifically use a drive-thru service for adult products if one existed.

A drive-thru takes that barrier away completely. You don’t even have to get out of your car.

“The response during our soft launch was unlike anything we’ve seen. We had people queuing before we’d even officially opened. One couple drove forty minutes to be first in line. It confirmed everything we believed — people want this, they’ve just been waiting for someone to actually build it.”

— The director of Pulse & Cocktails

Which Stores Are Getting One?

We’re starting with a pilot at our flagship stores. The ones with car parks big enough to actually fit a drive-thru lane without causing a traffic jam. If demand matches what we saw in testing (and come on, it will), we’ll roll it out to every store with the space to support it.

Keep an eye on our socials for location announcements. First customers at each site get a freebie on us.

The Serious Bit (Sort Of)

Behind the jokes, there’s a real point. Millions of people in the UK want to explore what they’re into but feel too awkward, too embarrassed, or too busy to walk into a shop. Some won’t even browse online in case someone sees their screen.

Anything that makes it easier for someone to buy their first vibrator, try something new, or grab something fun for a night in is worth doing. Even if it comes through a car window in a brown paper bag.

Forget the Friday night takeaway. Upgrade your whole Friday night.
