Sex from around the world

There are some places in the world which are pretty liberated when it comes to sex, such as Amsterdam, Las Vegas, Thailand and even England!

There are also places which you would expect to have more conservative laws. India for example, where sex toys are illegal and come with a jail term of 2-5 years.

Wherever you are in the world, legislation often doesn’t keep up with public behaviour. You may find yourself in a very awkward position, even if you weren’t in one to start with!

Here are some weird and wonderful bylaws from around the world, still around today:

• In London, having sex on a parked motorcycle is illegal.
• In China, a woman may be naked only while in the bathroom. Not in a hotel room.
• In Nepal, Bangladesh and Macao it is against the law to view movies containing kisses by actors from these three countries or any simulated lovemaking by anyone or the pubic area of men and women.
• In Guam there are some men with the (enviable?) full-time job to deflower young virgins whilst travelling around the countryside, at a price. According to Guam law, virgins are not allowed to get married.
• In Hong Kong, women are legally allowed to kill their adulterous husband, but only with their bare hands. The lover may be killed in any manner they wish.
• In Oxford, Ohio, it’s illegal for a woman to stand in front of a man’s picture and take off her clothing.
• In Washington, D.C., the missionary position is the only acceptable sexual position. All other sexual positions are illegal.
• Nevada legislature prevents members of the legality from conducting official business wearing a penis costume while the legislature is in session.
• In Liverpool, England, Women be topless whilst selling products but only if they are in a tropical fish shop.
• In Connorsville, Wisconsin, it’s illegal for a man to fire a gun when his female partner is orgasming.
• In Birmingham, England, it is illegal for a man and woman to have sex “on the steps of any church after the sun goes down”
• In Alexandria, Minnesota, no man is allowed to have sex with his wife if he has the smell of garlic, onions, or sardines on his breath. If his wife so requests, law mandates that he must brush his teeth.
• In Cleveland, Ohio, women aren’t allowed to wear shiny patent-leather shoes in case a man looking down see’s the reflection of her private parts.
• In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, requires hotels to have twin beds in every room. If a couple rents a room for only one night there must be at least two feet between the beds. It is also illegal to have sex on the floor between the beds.
