Police, Nurse and Uniform Costumes: The Roleplay Classics

Maybe it started as a joke. Maybe you caught them lingering over a costume in a shop window, or a line in a film made you both go quiet for a second. However it came up, the idea’s there now. You’re just not sure how to suggest it without one of you laughing.

You’re in very normal company. Uniform role play costumes are one of the most popular fantasies out there.

This guide covers the classics: police, nurse, French maid and a few wildcards. Each one comes as a full look, with what to pair it with and an easy way to start playing. No script required.

Why uniform role play costumes never go out of style

Brits love dressing up for sex. A 2,000-person survey found 84% of people turn to role play when they want to liven things up with a partner, with firefighters, police officers and medical professionals among the most popular choices.

Uniforms are a fantasy for roughly half of us. Women most often picture military, police and firefighter uniforms. Men lean towards nurses, cheerleaders and teachers. And it’s not just a straight thing: around 45% of lesbian and bisexual women and 46% of gay and bisexual men said the same.

So why the pull towards dressing up? The strongest link was with fantasies about power, whether that’s playing the one in charge or the one taking orders. A uniform does that work for you. Put it on and the roles are already set, which is far easier than trying to “just be sexy” as yourself.

The sexy police officer costume

If one of you likes taking charge, start here.

The Sexy Night Officer & Thong Set (£29.95) is a stretchy mini dress with cut-outs and police styling, plus a matching thong.

For more coverage, or something to wear under your clothes, go for the Police Officer Costume Teddy with Garter Straps (£42.95).

Build the look: add handcuffs, black hold-ups and heeled boots. The Silver Diamante Metal Handcuffs (£16.95) make a good first pair. Keep the key where you can both reach it, and never leave anyone cuffed alone.

The naughty nurse costume

This one’s playful rather than powerful, and nurses are one of the uniforms men fantasise about most.

The Sexy Naughty Nurse Costume (£24.95) is a blue and white striped dress with lace trim, a white satin apron and a matching hat.

Build the look: white stockings and heels. For the “treatment”, skip anything clinical and reach for a feather tickler or a warming massage oil. It keeps things fun.

The French maid

The French maid has been a favourite for decades, and it’s our deepest uniform range.

More uniform classics worth trying

Uniforms don’t stop at the emergency services.

The naughty nun. The Black Sexy Nun Costume (£26.95) pairs a sheer mesh long-sleeve top with a wetlook cross and mini skirt, plus the classic headdress. Pious meets playful.

The bunny girl. The Black Sexy Bunny Costume (£24.95) is a glossy wetlook bodysuit with a white collar, bow tie and ears. Everyone recognises it instantly. Add sheer tights or fishnets.

The dominatrix. The Black Miss Whiplash Catsuit (£39.95) is one smooth line of wet-look black from shoulder to ankle. A full-length front zip lets you decide how much you show. Add heels and a crop and the power dynamic takes care of itself.

The air force pilot. The Sexy Airforce Dress Set (£34.95) comes with a pilot hat. It’s our nod to the military uniform that tops so many women’s fantasy lists.

For him. Our costume range leans female, but a convincing look for men is easy to put together. A crisp white shirt, a chest harness (£14.95) and a pair of cuffs get you halfway to officer. Confidence does the rest.

How to start uniform role play (without the cringe)

The costume is the easy bit. Here’s how to make the rest feel natural.

Talk about it first, away from sex. Over a drink, on a walk, anywhere low-pressure. “I’ve always fancied the idea of…” is all it takes.

Agree a safeword. Traffic lights work well. Green means keep going, amber means slow down, red means stop. Uniform play is often about power, so you both need a way to pause it.

Start with just the outfit. You don’t need a plot. Wear it, see how it feels, and let things happen. Laughing is allowed. It’ll probably happen at least once, and that’s part of the fun.

Build the character slowly. Next time, add a line, a prop or a scenario.

Frequently asked questions:

What is the most popular role play uniform?

Police, nurse and military uniforms consistently top the lists. Research suggests women most often fantasise about police, military and firefighter uniforms, while men tend to favour nurses. The French maid is a long-standing classic too.

How do I bring up role play with my partner?

Pick a relaxed moment, away from sex, and keep it light. “Have you ever fancied dressing up?” opens the door without any pressure. Browsing uniform role play costumes together can make the conversation easier.

What size uniform costume should I buy?

Check the size guide on each product, because costume sizing varies between ranges. If you’re between sizes, stretchy wet-look and mesh styles are usually more forgiving. Our store team can also help you check the fit in person.

Can I wear these costumes to a Halloween party or hen do?

Yes. Most of our sexy police, nurse, nun, devil and bunny costumes work for parties as well as nights in. Save the open-cup and lingerie-led sets for home.
