As maid of honour I knew it was my job to make sure the bride had the best send of possible before she delved into married life. We needed silly props and gizmos to take out with us on her last night of ‘freedom’ to make it one to remember, after looking online and not getting the proper feel for it I had a brain wave.
I decided it would be a great idea for us all to take a trip to Pulse and Cocktails, I drive past it nearly everyday and have never had the courage to go in by myself.
We got together one Friday afternoon and met outside in the large car park, of course being a group of girls together we all had the giggles about going into somewhere so naughty! Upon entering we were met by a lovely water feature with a manikin wearing underwear laid over it, which I was fairly surprised at, I expected it to be a bit sleazy rather than have water features. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who could tell we were all abit giddy, she made us feel at ease and told us if we needed any help at all just come and ask. The layout of the store seemed professional, it was mainly lingerie and bask’s towards the front of the shop and moved on to a few demo vibrators that you could have a look at out of the package. Of course we all went straight there, trying out the different types of products that were on offer was fun especially with your friends, the lady who worked there came over and explained some of the features and best sellers that they had in stock.
After looking at these we walked over to where all the Hen accessories were, they were at the back and had a large sign above them so you couldn’t miss them. They had everything we needed, penis shot glasses and straws, sashes, L badges and plates, other silly things like willy shaped water pistols and of course silly hats.
Once we were fully stocked up on Hen novelties we decided to go through the ‘Pulse’ section of the store which in layman’s terms means the adult section. Again was laid out very well, we couldn’t believe the amount of sex toys that were on offer!! The member of staff in there was just as friendly, asking if we were ok and if there was anything specifically we had come in for. We had a look round and came across one of the walls full of Fetish and Bondage stuff, of course we found this quite funny, some of the things to us looked really scary! The Dvd’s were located at the back so you didn’t have to look at them if you didn’t want.
All in all we found it a very fun afternoon and all 5 of us have said we will defiantly come back in with our partners or by ourselves to maybe buy some of the toys, it was a very different atmosphere to what we all expected, not sleazy at all just felt as though you were in a normal department store with naughty stuff on the shelves!!

I wouldn’t even like to think how many times I have drove past Pulse and Cocktails in Canklow, I am a lorry driver and get that route pretty often. I looked most times I drove past and always contemplated going in, but I was always scared, I thought it would be seedy and the was worried about what the staff would be like with me. Im quite a reserved person and another thing that put me off going was the car park can be seen from the main road and I was worried someone might drive past and recognise my car. However after some people from work convinced me to go and try it out, I went.
I found that you can actually park round the back so that was one worry out of my mind straight away. I went inside and straight away was shocked, it looked really nice inside and a woman came over and said hello and asked if I needed any help. I was nervous walking around at first but after a few minutes I started to feel at ease, there was no one looking at you funny and the other people in there were just getting on with looking around. The first part of the shop seemed to have a lot of clothing and novelties which I had a quick glance around but wasn’t really what I was looking for, I think the shop assistant realised I looked a bit lost and came over and asked again if I needed any help, so I asked her where to find rabbit vibrators. She took me over to a small section in first side and showed me some of the products on offer. There even were a few ones opened to try out. She then explained to me that there was a larger selection of sex toys through the other side in Pulse as she called it and took me through there were I was dealt with by another member of staff. She asked what I was looking for and I told her I wanted to get a surprise for my wife, she was so helpful explaining to me what types of toys there were out there and what did what, I didn’t feel as though I was buying a sex toy!!
In the end I chose the ice queen rabbit, which was one of the ones the woman recommended. I was so glad to have her help in the end as she knew what she was talking about. My wife couldn’t actually believe I had gone in on my own, but I told her how different to my expectations it was and we are going to go back together in the near future. It has completely changed my attitude towards previous thoughts on Pulse and Cocktails.
Oh and she loved the rabbit!

Went in Pulse and Cocktails a few days ago, it wasn’t my first time, been in loads if im honest. They have just had a re-vamp in the shop and I think it looks way better, I mean it dint look a mess before, but its just laid out a lot better and things are easier to find which is good.
As normal staff were right friendly, saying hello and asking if you were alright, as a regular I know where to go for what I want so I said hello back and walked round to the adult bit of store. I noticed there was a lot of offers on all sorts which was new and good, specially in this economy at minute.
As usual the back was full of every sex toy you could imagine but that’s not what I was in there for, I had gone in for a doll. This was my first doll so was unsure of what to get as some of them are well expensive and there was a lot of choice, I asked Vanessa who was working at the time to explain which one was best value for money. She was right helpful and told me which dolls did what and how realistic some of them looked when blown up, I wasn’t surprised coz their always right helpful in there.
I ended up getting the DLL love doll, it was a bit more than what I wanted to pay but Vanessa assured me it was good value for money for what you was getting. I have to say she was right, im very happy with my purchase from Pulse and I will be returning when I need something else.

Probably not the normal thing you go into Pulse and Cocktails for but I had heard how good their fancy dress stuff was. I was going to a fancy dress party that was mainly for adults and knew they had a good selection of outfits.
I have been to Pulse and Cocktails in Hillsborough a few times and had been impressed with it, but decided to go to the large one in Rotherham as I thought it would have a bigger range of items. Was really easy to find just off the motorway at junction 33 and had a large car park.
Inside blew me away, on entering there is a water-fall and a little bit further in there’s a rotating pole with a manikin draped round it in some sexy underwear. The shops layout was lovely the lady behind the counter told me they had just had it re-dun, I asked her where to find all the fancy dress items and she pointed me in the right direction and added if you need any help just ask. They had a big range just as I had expected, from your normal policewoman outfits, bumblebee costumes, sailor costume, Fire lady, Roman goddess and even silly ones like A single sperm cell or a blow up doll outfit. They were not really slutty like you might expect they were proper fancy dress outfits, obviously you could but sexy PVC outfits and things like that but there was a difference.
The store had 2 changing rooms both really nice with a big mirror and a little soft cushioned chair, it just added to the relaxed atmosphere. I tried a Sailor costume on and an Army one, the sales woman came over and asked if I wanted her opinion which I was very grateful for as I was a bit stuck between the two. We finally decided on the sailor outfit.
Whilst I was there I noticed they had an offer on some lingerie that was buy one get one half price so I ended up buying some really nice bra’s.
Very enjoyable shop, its not like some people would expect, there is a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff are so friendly and willing to help you with whatever you need.

My boyfriend and I are both in our mid-20s, we have used sex toys before, but usually buy online because he had a bad experience in a shop a couple of years ago, he thought the shop was very seedy and he didn’t think much to it. We bought online from Pulse and Cocktails because they are reputable and we have heard about them. We live in Wickersley and never realised how close we were to one of the shops. My friend from work had been in and told me all about it as conversation switched to bedroom talk on our lunch break. I told her about my boyfriend’s experiences and she assured me that Pulse and Cocktails was different, so we decided to check it out.
When we arrived the first impressions were excellent, the car park was large and very discrete which is good for those people who are new to sex toys and want to keep it discrete, and when we walked through the door and the reaction was simply wow! The staff were immediately very helpful and very friendly. One of the staff asked if we were looking for anything in particular, and if we had been in before, and said if we need any help just ask her. The first impressions of the shop itself was very positive, everything is very well laid out and where you can find it, I especially liked the rotating pole in Cocktails I thought this was very different and a bit quirky and gave the shop a little je ne sais qua. We looked at all the clothing and there were some very attractive sexy lingerie, and also burlesque Basques, I bought some nice bra’s that were on offer buy one get one half price. There were also offers on Sex toys, for these buy one and get one of the equivalent value half price. The lady behind the counter said that there was a bigger selection in the other side of the shop so we ventured through to the other side.
As what we would like to describe as intermediate users, we saw things in this side which were daunting to say the very least but the inquisitive side took hold when looking at some of the stuff. We bought a couple more toys, and then also turned our attention to the lube stand. Here there was another offer on flavoured lubes, this was buy 2 get 1 free, we have used flavoured lubes before, but this was a free sachet, but never bought the full bottle before. We got 3 different lovely flavours, and my boyfriend thinks this was the best buy because I give alot more blow-jobs now.
All in all we are very glad that we went in-store, it looks amazing, and all the staff were very professional and friendly, I would like to say a big thank you to Amanda who helped us out a lot during our visit, and we will definitely be coming back again soon after this visit, and it has changed my boyfriends outlook on adult stores for the better.

I have been a loyal customer for many years, unlike other ‘sex shops’ Pulse and Cocktails doesn’t seem as seedy or sleazy as many of the other shops that I have been in. I have an interest in DVD’s and they have always had an easy to access DVD collection, the titles are all ordered in category with wall signs, so it is pretty much like just going down to blockbusters and choosing a film. There are numerous deals running constantly, for example buy 7 DVD’s for £100, they are all on signs throughout the section and if there is any confusion, the staff will be more than happy to explain more, and if you are missing out on a deal, they will tell you about it, which is an added bonus for me.
When I walked into the store as normal I was greeted by very friendly staff, and they are all very professional, and always ready to help you and provide service with a smile. This time I went into the shop I noticed that there had been a big change around, the shop has been re-vamped and looks even nicer than it did before, it is all very clearly laid out with products on show so you know exactly what you are going to buy before you get it, and if you need any help at all the staff are always more than willing to demonstrate the products to you.
The DVD section is in the part of the store called ‘Pulse’ this is the area is where the DVD’s and all the products aimed more at fetish are located, this would be expected in a normal shop to be the ‘weird’ bit, but this was very tasteful (well as much as can be) and the staff in here are just as helpful and willing to explain everything you need to know.
When you buy more than 3 DVD’s you become part of their loyalty club and you are able to exchange the DVDs which is explained to you when you buy the DVDs. On my last visit to store Vanessa one of the staff told me about the newest offer they have where you buy DVDs and get a hardcore magazine included for the price. I bought 16 DVDs for £200 and then received 16 Magazines also, which for me was cracking value for money.
When you are looking around the DVD section, most types of fetish, or sexual interest is catered for, from Asian porn, the British amateurs to foot fetishes they have it all and much more in between. In the corner of the shop they have a TV screen playing a DVD on which allows you to watch bits of a DVD which is subtly placed so not to offend anyone who may not like it.
What I have found when going into this shop is the Pulse section is very discrete, it is through the back of the shop, and people have to want to go in there to actually see some of the more extreme products on sale. I think that this is a nice touch to a classy store because people who are new to this kinda thing may not want to, or be ready to face some of the things that are on sale. I think overall the experience of using Pulse and cocktails is something that makes me want to keep coming back, I feel very welcomed by all the staff, and it has everything I could possibly want and a whole lot more too!

My husband and I are both in our mid-40s and we are no stranger to Pulse and Cocktails, or sex toys. We have been in many times and tried all variations of toys, different styles of toys and for different fetishes and different sensations. Whenever we walk in we are always greeted with a friendly welcome and a smile which really puts you at ease, the staff all wear the same uniform which looks very professional and gives this the feel of a more up-class establishment than some of the other adult stores you can buy from. After browsing the different ranges of toys, and thinking to myself do I really need another rabbit, or vibrating butt plug? Wanting something a little different we went up to the desk to ask if there was anything new in-store that was a little bit different. After talking through a few products, the lady told us about this thing called Electra-Stim, which is a new kit that you can buy which generates a shocking sensation, when it comes to sex, we are an up for anything kind of couple and have tried most things including some of the more extreme toys that you will see. Originally, I thought it would be a feeling of pain you experienced, but I was pleasantly surprised when she said that it was like a tingling sensation it gave you. Seeing we looked very sceptical, she offered to give us a demo of the product so we could feel for ourselves. When she got out the demo kit, the control pad looked no different to any of the controls for other toys that we have used in the past which didn’t make it seem like some form of painful device, when she turned it on she got my husband to try it first, he described the feeling as being like you had pins and needles in your hand, and she demonstrated some of the different intensities and modes that the device has.
When it was my turn to try it I did still feel like this may hurt a little, but just as she said it was like a tingling sensation. I thought that this felt brilliant; it was not like anything I had ever felt before. Purchases aside, I just want to talk about the shop itself, coming from the local area I drive past this shop all the time, and we come in all the time too, so are no strangers to it. It is always a friendly and professional environment, there is a nice little water feature inside the shop which sounds very relaxing, more like walking into a spa than a sex shop. The last time we went in we noticed how this had been recently renovated and re-organised, it looks spectacular, everything is very ordered and clearly marked on signs where everything is, and all the offers that are on are clearly shown, so all the information you need is there, if you ever want or need to know anymore in our experience the staff are all knowledgeable and willing to help you with whatever you need. |
